Provincial Tree of Northwest Territories, Tamarack Botanical Art Print
Tamarack is the official provincial tree of the Northwest Territories.
Beautiful Fact - Tamarack trees are unique among conifers: their needle-like leaves turn bright gold in autumn before dropping, creating a vivid seasonal display. For generations, First Nations communities have used tamarack roots in canoe building, showcasing the tree’s strength and versatility.
Leaves - amarack’s slender, blue-green needles grow in small clusters of 12–20, giving branches a feathery appearance. Each needle is 10–25 mm long and transitions from pale green to a brilliant yellow in fall, before gently shedding for winter.
